Description
The John Hank basket is solid. Warp and weft elements are uniform in size and color. Signed “John Hank, Pt Barrow AK 1990.” Two part ivory walrus stands 1 inch. Baleen base and lid measure 2 inches tall, 3 inches in diameter. The basket is made using an open stitch pattern with straight vertical stitching on the sides. The lid stitching has pairs of white baleen accent loops that close to the center like spokes of a wheel.
John Hank is a son of Marilyn Hank Otton and brother to Harry Hank, grandson to Eunice and Carl Hank and was born in Pt. Barrow, Alaska.
